A 1.3-meter-wide gesture subtly emerges onto the street. Without the need for signage, this unassuming facade meticulously carves a niche between two structures, exuding an aura of sophistication and restraint, revealing the imposing 4-meter door that seems to float amid walls of sleek black slate—an architectural choice that captivates the inquisitive observer.
A narrow 30-meter-long hallway of deep blue, adorned with a sequence of alternating lamps and terracotta vessels filled with vegetation, guides the way to the lobby door.
Inside the lobby, the black slate wall contrasts with undulating felt cladding, a design solution developed by the studio that addresses both aesthetic and acoustic requirements. Hidden within it is a large revolving door that rotates 360 degrees, providing access to restricted areas.
A terracotta screen made of turned pieces delineates the boundary and serves as the backdrop for the reception area, featuring a small desk adorned with one of the studio’s designed lamps for the project.
Terracotta, the molded clay fired in a wood-burning oven, is extended to a kind of installation at the entrance, aiming to express the essence of the craft and the nobility of this material, chosen as a key element for the project’s identity.
Within the apartments, everything is dominated by a sense of aesthetics, functionality, and productivity. The furnishings are what give a unique identity to the space, continuing to make Stay a distinctive place. Wood, aluminum, bronze, terracotta, and textiles are the materials expertly combined to create pieces with a resolute yet timeless language. A curtain system allows for a versatile space and privacy when assembling the sofa bed, one of the studio’s ingenious designs.
